TSC 1x05: Slither - Recap

This was a very sad night for all Secret Circle fans. The first TSC episode to make me cry. I had made a prediction based on the last promo picture, in which Nick wasn't, and was wishing it wouldn't come true. Sadly, it did.

The episode started right where it left it last week. Melissa woke up feeling weird and in the course of that day, the demon we saw slithering into her last week took over her completely.
She was behaving oddly, but she managed to get Nick's help to unbury her family's book of shadows. Little did Nick know there wasn't a book of shadows in the old battered suitcase they found.

Cassie was having a heart to heart talk with her grandma when Melissa texted her asking her to come to the house immediately. She had already asked Faye to come as well. It turns out a whole circle was needed to break the spell that was put on the suitcase's lock... Or... maybe the whole circle was needed so the demons inside the suitcase could take them all over. I'm inclined to think that was the case.

While all this was happening, Charles Meade and Dawn Chamberlain had a secret meeting on a boat. Apparently, they had been waiting for this special moon to do some crystal magic... which didn't work. They had used their crystal too much, and it got drained. As it was revealed, they need the full circle and 6 crystals to get their powers restored.

Nick and Faye started to get suspicious when they say something moving inside the suitcase. When Cassie arrived, they saw the snake moving under Melissa's skin. Cassie remembered having seen that in Heather and asked Diana and Adam for help.

Poor Adam and Diana were just about to get it on after Diana prepared a romantic dinner and hot dessert to rekindle the spark between us. But well, Cassie interrupted them. When they got to the house, Nick hit Melissa and they tied her up.

As they didn't know what to do, Cassie went for her grandma knowing she was their only hope. When they both arrived back to the house, Melissa had managed to get loose and make Adam, Faye and Diana make a spell to open the suitcase. Anyway, grandma managed to get everything under control by using a magic crystal. Unluckily though, the demon got out of Melissa and into Nick, who managed to escape.

Grandma, Cassie and Adam burned the suitcase and all the snake-demons inside of it as it turns out the only way to kill them is by burning them or drowning them.

Possessed Nick then called Adam asking him to bring the suitcase to the Boathouse or else he would burn it down with his father inside. Faye stayed with Melissa in the house and the rest headed to the boathouse.

Meanwhile, Nick started talking to Dawn. She seemed to know the demon possessing him as she knew its name. The demon wanted to possess her as the circle would be already looking for Nick. She agreed but wanted to do it somewhere else so while she was taking Nick outside, she called Charles Meade without the demon noticing it. Charles quickly came to the rescue, hitting Nick on the head. Dawn said the only way to kill the demon would be to drown Nick. So that they did.

Cassie and grandma were too late. When they arrived Charles and Dawn had already left and Nick was dead. All the members of the circle were devastated after this. Even Charles Meade, who looked like a total villain, showed a good side to him, feeling awful for having had to kill Nick. But Dawn said it was "the right thing to do" and that he had saved her by doing so. I'm really starting to hate that bitch.

The only thing I liked about this episode is Cassie starting to trust her grandma. Jane seems to be a really kick ass witch and I'm sure she will teach Cassie a lot, eventually. Of course, if they let her... Grams is to go missing in some future episode.

Hope you like this episode and didn't cry as much as I did.
